Our products combine computer vision, machine learning, and best-in-class UX design to create new clinical pathways through smartphone-powered urinalysis and digitized wound management.
We are looking for a Backend & DevOps Engineer to join our team. This role is a unique blend of backend development and DevOps ownership — building secure, robust, and scalable backend systems while managing and improving the infrastructure that powers them.
You’ll work hands-on with our microservices and cloud environments, taking part in both core product development and infrastructure automation. In this role, you’ll shape both the backend services and the infrastructure that deliver real clinical impact to patients worldwide
Requirements
- 2+ years of backend development experience with one or more of: JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js – major advantage) or Python.
- Proven experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Experience working with RabbitMQ or other messaging/queueing systems.
- Proven hands-on experience deploying and managing production workloads on Kubernetes (Docker-based containerization).
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS/GCP) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Strong sense of ownership, with the ability to self-learn and dive into new DevOps challenges.
Nice to Have
- Experience implementing DevSecOps tools (SAST/DAST, WAF, IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with monitoring and incident management tools (Datadog, Opsgenie).
- Experience working with BigQuery or other large-scale data platforms.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core backend features and services that power our products.
- Architect and implement APIs, data flows, and integrations across multiple systems.
- Manage our production environments (multi-cloud, containerized, highly available).
- Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable fast and secure delivery.
- Develop infrastructure tools and automations to improve reliability, scalability, and security.
- Work with networking, CDN, and security layers (including Cloudflare) to keep systems resilient.
- Monitor system performance and take proactive steps to ensure resilience and compliance (GDPR/HIPAA).
- Stay updated with and implement the latest best practices and patterns in backend development.
- Collaborate closely with fellow engineers, researchers, and product managers to drive innovation.
